Got the book bug

OK, now Shelfari has got me completely hooked. I joined the ‘Can you recommend a book about?’ and asked for some recommendations for end-of-the-world books. Now I’ve got an ever increasing to-read list and can’t get enough of it - I want to keep reading more and more books so that I can put them on my ’shelf’.

One of the recommendations was How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff. It’s a book for ‘Young Adults’, so I had to venture into the children’s section of the Library, ask for help when I couldn’t find it and then have the Library Assistant rushing around trying to find it for me - I eventually found it misfiled in the adult section… Our local library is pretty small, but even so it’s not easy to find stuff there! Anyway, started the book yesterday and couldn’t put it down until it was finished. Absolutely brilliant! It’s the story of an American girl who is staying with her English cousins when war breaks out - it’s the story of their survival. One of the best books I’ve read for a while.

Am now about to start Goldengrove Unleaving by Jill Paton Walsh, which is a book set in Cornwall. I read it 10yrs ago when I moved to Truro for a bit. We’ve been having to do some ruthless weeding of our books recently so I’ll read it again and then decide whether it’s one to keep.
